Moving from the old porndb.me: what happens to your account

The old porndb.me was switched off on 16 October 2026. Here is what that means for existing accounts, indexer keys and integrations, and how long you have.

On 16 October 2026 we switched off the original porndb.me: the website, the old web app at app.porndb.me and the API at api.porndb.me. There was no long transition period, and we know that is abrupt if you still used the old site. This post explains why we did it that way, what happens to your account and what you need to do.

Short version: your old account can be moved to the new PornDB app until 1 October 2027, 00:00 UTC. You need your old login and password. Start at app2.porndb.me/claim-legacy or read the step-by-step migration guide first.

Why a clean cut

The old porndb.me was a beta that had been standing still for a long time. Running it next to the new app would have meant two accounts, two sets of indexer keys and two places where things could go wrong. A single switch-over keeps things simple: one app, one account per person, and a clear deadline for bringing old accounts across.

What we moved for you, and what we did not

At the moment of the switch, we copied exactly two things from the old system into the new one, in protected form:

  • Your account, so you can prove that it is yours with your old password.
  • The indexer keys you had saved, for NZBFinder, NZBGeek, ABNzb, DrunkenSlug and NZB.su, so you do not have to look them up again.

Nothing else came along. Favourites, playlists, filters, history, plans and roles, and the API key of the old porndb.me itself were left behind. The new app is built differently enough that most of those would not have meant anything there. Favourite actors and sites can be imported from your prdb.net account instead.

Your NZBPorn key was not copied either, and you will not miss it: NZBPorn is built into the new app and works without a personal key.

How claiming works

Claiming takes a few minutes:

  1. Enter your old login and old password at app2.porndb.me/claim-legacy. This proves the account is yours. It does not sign you in.
  2. Choose an email address you can confirm and a new password. The email can be different from your old login, which helps if that address is long gone. If you already registered on the new app, you can link the old account to that one instead.
  3. Confirm your email with the link we send you.
  4. In Settings → Data → Legacy import, decide which old indexer keys to take over. Nothing is transferred until you say so, and existing connections are only replaced if you tick that box.

The migration guide walks through each screen and covers the edge cases.

Some keys need a fresh copy

Some of the stored indexer keys were incomplete or contained stray characters, such as a space or a line break picked up when they were pasted years ago. We did not try to repair them, because a guessed key is worse than no key. They are marked “cannot be transferred safely” on the Legacy import page. Copy a current key from your indexer’s profile and add it under Settings → Downloads → Indexers.

If you used the old API

The old API at api.porndb.me now answers every request with 410 Gone and a short pointer to the new app. Scripts, download clients or websites that used it will stop working. The new app does not offer a public API at this point.

No old password, no migration

The migration only accepts the old password as proof. Because the old site is off, there is no way to reset that password any more. If you no longer have it, simply create a new account and add your indexers there. It takes about as long as a migration.

The deadline

Claims are possible until 1 October 2027, 00:00 UTC. After that the app stops accepting old passwords and transferring old keys, and the remaining temporary migration data is deleted. Accounts claimed before the deadline are not affected in any way.
